Auch dieses Wochenende ließen die Cubs nichts anbrennen. Zwei klare Siege gegen die Vienna Wanderers waren das Ergebnis einer tollen Teamleistung.
Seidl und Schneider weiterhin hungrig auf Wins
Im ersten Spiel stand Alex Seidl als Starter für die Cubs am Mound. Lediglich im letzten Inning scorten die Wanderers nach einem Double von Daniel Walenta einen Run. Über das gesamte Spiel hinweg produzierte die Offense der Cubs immer wieder Runs. Angeleitet wurde sie von Rene Lachinger, der an diesem Tag in Anwesenheit vieler Freunde, Angehöriger und Familie am Baseballplatz seinen Geburtstag feiern durfte. Am Ende stand es 6:1 für die Cubs.
Spiel 2 war ebenfalls von einer durchweg soliden Offensivleistung geprägt. Selbst gegen den Reliefpitcher Fabian Hirnschal, welcher normalerweise in der 1. Bundesliga am Werferhügel zu sehen ist, behielten die Schlagmänner der Cubs die Oberhand. Auch hier muss abermals die Leistung des Cubs-Pitchers Michael Schneider hervorgehoben werden, der nur mit sehr wenigen Pitches die Wanderers immer wieder zurück auf die Bank geschickt hat. Allerdings passierten in der Defense einige vermeidbare Fehler, die zu Baserunnern und letztendlich zu ein paar Runs geführt haben. Der Endstand dieses Spiels lautete 8:3.
Heißer Showdown vor den Playoffs
Am 6.9. finden die letzten beide Spiele gegen die Piratas del Caribe in der Freudenau statt (be there and support the team!). Noch ist alles offen, wie der Gegner der Cubs in den darauffolgenden Playoffs heißen wird.
